Proud Mary (String Quintet)

Proud Mary (String Quintet)

This a piece arranged for a standard string quintet; two violins, viola, cello, and double bass. It’s a simple, fun, and rocking arrangement. It’s a great crowd-pleaser, and perfect for a tune to end a set before intermission.

Difficulty: Easy – Intermediate

Rhythm: The melody has some harmonic/ rhythmic anticipations and delays. The guitar strumming pattern is repeated throughout the viola and cello.

Range: Every thing is within range for a high school and above group.

Harmony: Is this is a classic Fogerty tune; it’s three chords, mostly hanging around the string-friendly D chord.

Commissioned by the Perrin Yang Quartet.
